Why & When We Started

Born during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Hen Eggs Organization (HEO) is a symbol of resilience and community strength. Initiated to financially support farmers in Kampala, Mukono, Tororo, Mbale, Iganga, and Budaka districts, HEO emerged as a community-driven response to the hardships faced during the pandemic. It stands as a testament to unity and positive change in the face of adversity.

Our Commitment to Animal Welfare

At Hen Eggs Organization, we believe in providing our customers with more than just food – we offer peace of mind. Our chickens are raised in a healthy and nurturing environment, free from harm and stress. We adhere to strict guidelines that prioritize the well-being of our birds, ensuring they are given ample space to roam, a balanced diet, and access to clean water.

Quality Assurance

We prioritize top standards in poultry farming, guiding farmers for chicken health, nutrition, and living conditions. Emphasizing cleanliness, we enforce hygiene standards for the safety and quality of our premium eggs and chicken.

Healthy Environment, Quality Eggs

The health and feed of our chickens directly impacts the quality of our eggs. By prioritizing a healthy and stress-free environment, we not only ensure the well-being of our chicks but also deliver products that are rich in nutrition. It’s a win-win for both our customers and our feathered friends.

Our Mission

Our aim is to create positive community impact with a focus on better nutrition and to create income streams for farmer groups with a focus on sustainable methods, generating employment opportunities for community members and enhancing overall livelihoods. Our future plans involve expanding into a large-scale farm operation to cater to regional markets within Uganda.

Our Model

We opted for the cooperative business model as it allows us easy management, communication, and supervision. Our cooperative will act as a platform to organize, train, and enable our farmers in small manageable sized groups (of fifteen). We provide our farmers with all they’ll need to get on the self-sufficiency path.

In addition to quality hens, poultry feeds, and veterinary services, the cooperative also equips the farmers with certified training in poultry farming and makes accessible affordable collateral-free loans to establish poultry houses through an easily accessible community bank. The community bank will enable farmers to save their incomes, multiply their savings, re-invest their earnings in their poultry farms or diversify into other income generating activities.

Our Leaders and The Experience they bring

Okware Moses: I Okware Moses, It was in 2020 during lockdown when l had a vision of forming the Hen Eggs Organization. The main purpose / objective behind the idea was to start up a  poultry farm project. My major intention was to supply chicken meat and local eggs with yellow yoke. I did the  research and it was successful. I saw it as an activity that could help generate income  especially during a dark period of lockdown hence making a difference in life.  I shared the idea with the gentlemen and lady as seen (in management team names) above,  they wholesomely understood and embraced the program as the founder members of the Executive  Committee of the Organization.

Bruno Serunkuma Musene: My entry into chicken farming faced initial challenges due to my limited knowledge in poultry farming at a young age. Seeking improvement, I participated in Seeds of Gold training seminars, gaining valuable insights and earning a certificate. I began with a modest backyard setup, initially managing 50 chicks, and gradually expanded to 100. Over time, my experience has grown, accumulating 15 years of expertise in poultry farming.

Peterson Chosen Kiyemba: I acquired my poultry expertise at Winners Chapel Church on Lubaga Road in Kampala, attending poultry sessions and earning a certificate. I’ve been engaged in the poultry business for 10 years since.
